This is a long-term project that documents facades across the UAE and highlights the rapid development of various architectural forms since the unification of the country. Focusing on facades and excluding all contextual elements is intentionally deployed to invite the viewer to see the buildings’ character and analyze its components more closely. While it may take nearly a decade for this project to start maturing, part of this collection has already been shown at several exhibitions.

As the collection grows, the aim is to use its potential findings to inform a classification system for buildings – offering a more well-rounded understanding of the various influences on the UAE’s heterogeneous architectural identity.
